Meeting

I had a chance to meet with my mentor (of Uganda) and his wife today. This was my second time meeting with them. We updated each other on our progress and our preparation work. They (family of 4) plan on leaving by the end of July so that when I get to Uganda, they would have already been settled in. I requested from them some pictures that they took during their prior stay in Uganda. Those pictures can be found here.

Why do I have mentors? A.I.M felt that because it is my first time to Africa, especially to Uganda and I am still young, they would like to find a mentor for me during my time there. While I am there, they are to mentor me spiritually and guide me through Uganda and the city we are going to stay in.

Now that the mentors have provided me with some pictures, I know what to tell my family and friends when they ask me questions like "How is your living condition?" or "Are you living in the city or the countryside?"

Prepared Heart

Recently, I came to a realization that asking others to pray for me is very important before I leave for Africa and while I am there. When I think of Africa, I think of how beautiful every nation is. I also think of how hospitable the people are. One thing that I forgot to think of is the opposite. Physically, the nations are beautiful, but spiritually, it's very hard to describe. I guess you can do some research on your own.

I was talking to a good friend of mine about being prepared before my departure. When I think of being prepared, I think of the Bible training, a prepared heart when giving my farewell speech, goodbyes to my friends and family, and many others things. Recently though, God has been nudging my heart to ask for your prayers regarding the spiritual realm of where I will be. Yes, there is persecution in Africa, but that is not what I am scared of. When praying for a prepared heart, I mean that I will be facing many demonic attacks and will encounter evil forces.

I guess when praying for a prepared heart isn't exactly what I thought it would be. If you can, please pray for me in this area because it is one thing that frightens me a lot.

Isaiah 49:14-15
But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me." "Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Through she may forget, I will not forget you!"

Mark 9:24 - "I Do Believe; Help Me Overcome My Unbelief!"

God's been gracious! I recently broke even with the selling of my shirts and have a whole lot left to sell, but I have faith that God will provide me with buyers for these shirts. If you are reading this and wondering how you can support me and spread the word of my mission, you can purchase a shirt here. Just a reminder that there are limited quantities in designs, sizes and colors, so get them while they last!
I've had a few opportunities to share with others about my mission. With just a little bit over 5 months left until my departure date, I was at first worried about my finance. I thought to myself, well, I need $15,000 one-time gifts as well as $1,800 in monthly support how is this going to work out? Then I began to remember Jesus' words:

Matthew 19:26
Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

In the next few months, it's definitely going to be a bumpy ride, even before landing on the battlefield, but God will help me pull through this. If God brought me all the way to this point, there is absolutely no way will He leave me nor forsake me. He's brought you and I to where we are at this point of life, why would you think that He will pull the plug on you?

Deuteronomy 31:8
The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
