Are You Still?

I've been learning many things, but the most recent comes from my video blog, so please sit back, watch, listen and enjoy this video:

Psalm 46:10
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

Safari + Friends

During our three week Africa-Based Orientation in Kenya, we had long days of training that were both mentally and physically draining. Out of the three weeks, we had one day off, and we decided to go on a Safari trip. During the Safari trip, God continued to show me how great He is as the Creator of the universe. As the Creator, He certainly created a lot of creative creatures, one of them being a giraffe. Not only does the photo below show you one of the unique creatures that the Creator created, but as you can see, the background shows you also another amazing creation of His, the formation of the earth and how He wants it to be. I can only stand in awe of Him.
As I mentioned in my last blog entry, we had Africa-Based Orientation at Scott Theological College. At Scott Theological College, I built a lot of great relationships with the African students there. These individuals have a great passion to serve the Lord. One thing that I will truly miss about the three weeks spent in Kenya was having to dine and fellowship with these students.

Before I left, one of the students wanted to encourage me while I am in Arua, Uganda serving God as a Youth Worker. He read out a particular Bible passage to me and I would like to pass it on to you as well.

Psalm 20:1-9

May the LORD answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.

May He send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion.

May He remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings. (Selah)

May He give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.

We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests.

Now I know that the LORD saves His anointed; He answers him from His Holy Heaven with the saving power of His right hand.

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

O LORD, save the king! Answer us when we call!

African Soil

It's been a long time since I blogged. Last time I blogged, I was still on Canadian soil, but this blog entry is posted on African soil, specfically on Kenyan soil. I have been in Kenya since September 27. I am currently in Scott Theological College, where AIM have decided to place their Africa-Based Orientation in a more African setting. There has been a lot of training, getting to know other AIM missionaries, chances to interact with the locals in ministry outings, and even meet the many different Africans that are studying at this Bible college. These Africans are from different countries ranging from Kenya and Rwanda, to places like Malawi and Tanzania. It's wonderful when it comes to building relationships. I am very glad that AIM have decided to place their Africa-Based Orientation in Kenya because it only makes sense, that before we jump into our location of ministry, we are to encounter a wall and it will require stepping out of our comfort zone.
It's been a great two weeks so far here at training, but on the 19th of October is when we will complete this training. The sad part is having to say goodbye to the friends I've made here. I've met several individuals that have shared with me many insights, to encourage me in many things, whether those are spiritual battles or my personal physical struggles. I've also met some individuals who have a huge passion for the children and youth, and it's great because it goes to show that the next generation of leaders are caring for the younger generation. Actually one thing that I've learned here in Africa, is that the culture, and even in the church, shows a greater interest and spends more resource on the older generation and invests less on the children and the youth.
An encouragement for you is to not give up reaching out to the children and the youth, because it is very important for them to know the redemption story of the cross which Jesus Christ died on for our sins. They are the future generation, and how we treat them and invest in them will effect what will happen in the latter years. So please continue to pursue and pray for the children and youth of your location of ministry.
